Rapid Response Air & Ground Courier

Here at Medi-Ops, we utilize Part 121, Part 129, and Part 135 operators to transport organs, blood, medications, and other medical devices! While we often do this via ground units outfitted with lights and sirens, fixed-wing and rotor aircraft allow faster transportation than ever before.

The photos above show a new Cessna 414 Fixed Wing Aircraft for use in air medical courier operations based out of Colorado. This aircraft has an average speed of 270 MPH, and a one-way flight distance of 1528 miles.

Because our medical courier aircraft are specifically outfitted for medical supplies, not patients, you never have to worry about this aircraft being out of service due to a pending patient medical emergency. We maintain a 24/7 communications and dispatch center that is always available to activate any type of transport.

Scene Response Policy

We operate our air medical couriers with three different activation codes. A facility can call and put us on Standby. This means our crew and aircraft are activated and ready to go, but not airborne. A ground unit with lights and sirens is also activated. Our second tier activation is called a Scene Standby. This means that the crew is activated, and flies to the emergency scene or closest airport. The emergency ground unit is also en route to the pickup for immediate transportation.

Should the aircraft or ground unit not be needed, the aircraft can be canceled. A Go or Full Activation means an aircraft is definitely needed. Any previous activation can be upgraded to full activation. Weather is, however, a non-negotiable factor in response – if weather inhibits safe flying operations, we will not activate. The pilot has the ultimate say if an operation is a go, providing the safest experience for the crew and your package.

Route Example

Route Transportation

For several years, couriers around the United States have relied on an on-demand system. This means that a client will place an order, and one courier will take that order from pickup to delivery. This works well for many supply chains and is generally employed by Medi Ops however, we have developed a more sophisticated system. Our system reduces the cost per order for the client. We coordinate with other clients in your area to create a route! This route is then picked up and delivered by one individual driver. The cost is then distributed among multiple clients, reducing the overall cost per delivery. If you look at the photo above, you will see multiple stops along a route, returning to a lab for processing at the end of the trip! The cost of the courier is then shared among each client participating in that transport.

Of course, we still operate an on-demand service, as well as an emergency service that is tailored specifically to one client and one delivery.  For our on-demand model (also known as a STAT transport), a driver is dispatched immediately to your location, without lights and sirens, and will solely transport your order to delivery. The same goes for our emergency courier services. For this, we dispatch a trained driver in a specialized vehicle, outfitted with lights and a siren, to your location. We can transport blood, organs, medical samples, vaccines, antivenom, and many other specimens for the preservation of life.

Another feature we are excited to introduce to our clients is online ordering. We have been developing a new online dispatch system where clients can place an order via our website. Once the order is placed, you will be provided with a live tracking number as well as the estimated arrival time of your driver. Throughout the transport, you are able to track your order in live time with an option for contact with your driver. This online system also provides an immediate quote for the order. We are upfront, and promise to provide the highest quality of service. We also hope to have our new software operational by early August!

We hope that operating in this new route system will help make couriers more affordable for more companies in Colorado and all along the Front Range. If you have any questions or would like to place an order, please call our Dispatch Center at 844-633-4677. We would be happy to assist you in scheduling a route, on demand, STAT transport, or an emergency transport if necessary. Thanks from all of us here at Medi-Ops!

A New Type of Emergency Medical Courier

We are so excited to announce Medi-Ops will be bringing a new kind of service to the medical community in Colorado and surrounding states. Throughout medical history, time has always been a valuable factor in the preservation of life. Life-threatening situations require prompt transport. Here in Colorado, traffic is constantly rising, increasing transport times to an unsafe level. This is why we have been working hard with our team, and the state of Colorado, to create a solution. Recently, Medi-Ops has been working with Colorado State Patrol to authorize our fleet as emergency vehicles! We are so excited to offer transport of blood, organs, and other specimens via a vehicle outfitted with over $8000 in emergency lighting and a multi-tone siren. This new service is proven to save hours during transportation of blood to receiving facilities. Recently, we spoke to the director of Parker Adventist Hospital about situations where this service is proved not just valuable, but life saving.

A young mom, eight and a half months pregnant, walks into the emergency room in extreme distress. Due to complications, the mom is immediately brought to labor and delivery for cesarean section. During the delivery, mom starts bleeding out. It becomes apparent to doctors and nurses that she needs a blood transfusion. At this point, the hospital calls a local blood bank and Medi-Ops is contacted for the emergency transport of the blood. Within minutes, a Medi-Ops team is activated and drives emergent to the blood bank. The blood is then carefully delivered to the receiving hospital just, in time to save the mothers life. These are the situations Medi-Ops deals with every day! We are excited to bring this new service to all of our clients – for blood transport, organ transport, and the alike.
